Large-Scale Gujarat IAS Reshuffle: New Collectors Named in Ahmedabad, Surat and 13 Other Districts
Gandhinagar: In one of the most extensive bureaucratic reshuffles in recent years, the Gujarat government on Tuesday transferred and reassigned 72 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across the state, introducing wide-ranging changes in district administrations, municipal corporations, urban development authorities, and major state departments.
The detailed transfer order, issued late on May 13 by the General Administration Department, includes the appointment of new collectors in several strategically significant districts such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Morbi, Dahod, Junagadh, and Kutch. The reshuffle also impacts senior posts in education, energy, tourism, industries, tribal development, and urban administration.
The large administrative restructuring is being seen as an important initiative aimed at improving governance and speeding up implementation of development projects across Gujarat.
Major Appointments in Gandhinagar and State Departments
Among the most notable appointments, senior IAS officer D.N. Modi has been designated as Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar, one of the most powerful administrative roles in the state.
Anand Babulal Patel has been assigned as Commissioner of Schools, along with additional responsibilities as Commissioner of PM-POSHAN Yojana and Director of GCERT.
Sujeet Kumar, previously Collector of Ahmedabad, has been appointed Special Commissioner of State Tax, Ahmedabad.
Ajay Prakash has been posted as Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. (GETCO).
Dr. Sourabh Zamsingh Pardhi, formerly Surat Collector, has been designated Director of Civil Supplies and Ex-officio Additional Secretary.
Kshipra Suryakantarao Agre has been appointed Commissioner of MSME, Gandhinagar, with extra responsibility as Commissioner of Services.
