Tamil Nadu IAS Revamp: N Muruganandam, M A Siddique, S Swarna Among Prominent Officers Shifted; K Nanthakumar Designated New TASMAC MD
Chennai: In a major administrative reshuffle soon after the establishment of the C. Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) administration, the Government of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reassigned and appointed several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across vital departments, including Finance, Revenue Administration, Tourism, and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.
The posting directives were released by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar in the name of the Governor, reflecting the new administration’s move to strengthen bureaucratic leadership in crucial sectors.
N. Muruganandam Named Revenue Administration Commissioner
Senior IAS officer N. Muruganandam, who recently resumed duties after leave, has been assigned as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management.
He succeeds P. Amudha, who had been managing the role as an additional responsibility.
The Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department holds a key responsibility in addressing natural calamities, relief coordination, and district-level administration.
M. A. Siddique Assigned as Finance Secretary
In one of the most significant appointments of the reshuffle, M. A. Siddique, who had been serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department.
He takes over from T. Udhayachandran in the state’s most important financial assignment.
The Finance Department supervises budget formulation, expenditure regulation, fiscal strategy, and execution of major government initiatives.
Dr S. Swarna Shifted to Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments
Dr S. Swarna, who had been serving as Principal Secretary and State Project Director of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, has been designated as Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments Department.
She succeeds Dr K. Manivasan, who had been handling additional charge of the department.
The department oversees the promotion of Tamil Nadu’s tourism industry, conservation of cultural legacy, and administration of temples.
K. Nanthakumar Named Managing Director of TASMAC
In a notable appointment, K. Nanthakumar, presently serving as Registrar of Cooperative Societies, has been placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation for appointment as its Managing Director.
He replaces T. Christuraj.
TASMAC administers Tamil Nadu’s state-run liquor retail system and remains one of the state’s biggest revenue-earning entities.
Administrative Restructuring Under the New TVK Administration
The reshuffle comes just days after C. Joseph Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister on May 11, 2026. The appointments are viewed as part of a wider administrative restructuring aimed at positioning experienced officers in strategic roles to advance the new government’s governance priorities.
The changes impact departments that are central to fiscal administration, disaster management, tourism development, and state revenue mobilisation, highlighting the government’s emphasis on effective governance and policy implementation.
